Tax Safety Tip #1
'Tis The Season To Be Wary
Tax season means more scams.
Attackers often impersonate the IRS to trick people into sharing personal or financial information.
Remember: the IRS usually contacts taxpayers through official mail first, not email or text.
If you're unsure about a message, verify it through the official IRS website:

Tax Safety Tip #2
Beware the Overshare!
Those cute pet pics and vacay updates are cool, but spill too much, and you're practically handing out your life story.
Cybercriminals love a good overshare party because the more info they have the more easily they can build up a personal profile of your data and use it to hack you (or even your company😧) .
While you’re at it, check your privacy settings for posts and really think if the default visibility to “Everyone” is really needed. Good bet that it’s probably not - change it to something that works for you.
Keep it tight, keep it right, and let's make online privacy the trendiest thing on our feeds.

Protect Your Identity!
Your tax refund can be a target for identity theft.
If attackers obtain your personal information, they may attempt to file a tax return in your name. One way to protect yourself is by using an IRS Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN).
This unique code helps prevent unauthorized tax filings using your identity. Most people don’t know this exists. Attackers are counting on that.
Watch this short clip to learn how to set it up and send to others to keep them safe, too!

Tax Safety Tip #3
Digital Minimalism
For some cyber zen in your life consider digital minimalism - take a quick inventory of apps lurking on your phone and other devices that you haven’t touched in ages. Found them? Good - now hit ‘Uninstall’ and stay in control of who has access to your details.
Those lurking apps might not be on your radar anymore, but guess what? They've still got your data in their sights. Take a sec every now and then to check which apps you're actually vibing with and ditch the ones that no longer spark joy.

Be Prepared
Some “tax preparers” are scammers looking to steal your info and refund.
Do you know what to watch for or what resources the IRS offers?
Most people don’t know what to look for until it’s too late.
We put together a quick guide on what to check before you file and learn how to stay safe this tax season!
